DESIGN BRIEF
I was appointed by a private Client who required an annexe to the side of his son’s property, so that he and his wife can relocate to live with their family following their retirement. The requirement was to provide a living area which could be separated from the main house whilst still integrated into the family home.
PROPOSED DESIGN
The property is a large one and a half storey house. The proposal creates a single storey element adjoining the side of the property, in a similar form to other properties in the area, who have side garages attached. The design will have red brickwork to match the main house as well as cream coloured weatherboarding, which also follows through with the areas of cladding on the main house.
EXISTING HOUSE
I carried out a survey of the areas of the existing house which the annexe would be extended from. The proposal will have a shared living room with the main house.
PROPOSED ANNEXE
Planning permission has been granted for the design, which incorporates a kitchen/diner, wet room, small utility area and bedroom. The Client hopes to start the build as soon as possible to allow him and his wife to live comfortably in their retirement.
